Al Campo

Finally geting into a routine now. Yesterday (thurs) i came to school. again we hardly had class bc it is graduation week, and the underclassmen are all working on projects. I spent most of my day working in the office. tonight is graduation, and they asked me to translate the graduation speeches. I'm not gonna lie, i was a little flattered by that.
After school I went with the actual student teacher in my class to her college class. we took the bus to the Catholic University of Concepcion. We walked around a bit and then went into the gym. there was some sort of competition going on between majors, one team blue, one team green. it reminded me of a high school assembly. each team had to present a sort of evolution of dance. it was interesting to see what were important dances in this culture, although there was a lot of american dances. we headed to class but only stayed about 10 minutes. it was a sort of practicum enrichment where they discuss problems or questions in their placements. there were only about 5 students. after, we went to the library (miniature, dunbar could eat this library) and she showed me around the education building. we went and watched more of the assembly and then came back to the school to meet my mom. she works 8-6 every day!!

we went home, i ran, then we had onces at around 8. while we were talking, we heard these strange sounds outside. we went out and saw that a neighborhood across town was celebrating its anniversary with fireworks. they were 4th of july caliber. it was amazing. then my parents left to visit a freind and i stayed with xime (my sister) and we talked.

today we came to school, and i observed the other language teachers class. it was interesting to sit in on a grammar class becuase i actually knew stuff the students didn't. that was a first since i have been here. during break the history teacher showed us a documentary about pinochet and it was fascinating to listen to the teachers talk. they were saying where they were when the coup happened and this and that. i couldnt believe i was hearing firsthand stories about something i studied back at WSU. Before lunch the assistant principal called me down again to finish translating more speeches and then listen to the speakers practice. that lasted until the end of school. now i am headed to the mall and then tonight we are leaving to go to my familiy's country house.
